The Solution Architect role is a completely new role within Shopify. We are looking for someone with strong experience in managing architectural meetings with  a very technical audience and a deep understanding of different Integration methods. You will have the unique opportunity to help shape what the Solution Architect role within Shopify will look like.

The Solution Architect role will be focussed on Pre-Sales activities but will also spend a portion of their time helping our largest Merchants grow and succeed on our platform.. The Solution Architect will focus on our largest and most complex deals, partnerships and implementations assisting the regional teams globally.

• Min 5 years of experience in Solutions Engineering or consulting
• Experience in consulting highly technical audiences & Executives
• Technical Architectures, Integration, Security expertise
• Solid understanding of Cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals
• ​​​​​​​Deep understanding of technical strategy as it relates to operating and growing commerce businesses
• Strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) for enterprise integrations.
• Great troubleshooting and analytical skills combined with the desire to tackle challenges head-on
• Passion to build things from the ground up and share your expertise with the broader team
• ​​​​​​​A great video conference presence with confidence having a high level of executive acumen 

Projects, activities, and expectations of your role include:

• Engage with our most strategic and largest Merchant at any point in their journey from a technical requirements perspective for both our Enterprise Sales team and development partners/agencies.
• Engaging with enterprise clients through requirements discovery and various workshop formats
• Defining architectures and highly scalable solutions for our most complex and exciting Merchants
• Becoming an expert on Shopify’s application ecosystem and integrations
• Aligning with product and RnD teams on future roadmaps and sharing feedback on released features and client trends
• Being an expert on the Shopify Platform and how we are addressing Security and Compliance 
• ​​​​​​​Mentoring and coaching other Merchant facing teams at Shopify on technical aspects of our platform

• Commerce experience and knowledge of latest trends (storefront implementation, omni-channel, supply chain, B2B, etc.)
• Hands-on skills of Frontend Web development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Liquid)
• Extensive experience in presales solutions engineering or consulting
• eCommerce experience and knowledge of latest trends (storefront implementation, omni-channel, supply chain, B2B)
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Github)
