Job Description

*Please note this role is home based*

As a Data Scientist you will work closely with the existing team of health analysts and statisticians in supporting our current client base as well as supporting the development of cutting edge analytical tools and services to our clients across the various verticals we operate within. You will use your programming and statistical knowledge to develop sound methodological approaches to draw insight from data.  You will support the development of tools that enable customers to visualise data in new and imaginative ways, enabling them to take informed business decisions, based upon both historical trends and future scenarios.
Reporting to the Health Consultancy Manager.

The role of the Data Scientist involves:

  • Development and enhancement of statistical methods aimed at drawing deep insight from data. 
  • Development and enhancement of methods and approaches for visualisation of data to end users 
  • Developing and supporting implementation of proprietary built analytical tools. 
  • Training internal & external users on use-cases, and providing on-going technical support 
  • Developing and enhancing methodological approaches to be adopted by the wider development team
  • Driving forward the analytics offering of NEC.
  • Supporting the development and production of the current suite of health reports and analyses
  • Identifying opportunities for analytical solutions for NEC target markets
  • Helping set the agenda for up-skilling the development and product departments in approaches to the development of analytical solutions.

Qualifications

The skill sets & characteristics you will require:

Essential:

  • High degree of proficiency with programming in R and SQL.
  • Sound understanding of conventional methods of statistical inference.
  • Experience in automating analysis through dashboards or reports.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience with analysis of medical data
  • Familiarity with analysis of time-to-event data, specifically Kaplan Meier survival analysis and Cox regression.
