Job Description

The Staff Accountant ensures financial transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger. The position is responsible for accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, general ledger account reconciliations and detailed account activity analysis in accordance with GAAP and consistent with parent Company policies. 

  • Processes daily general ledger activities including: sales, cash, and credit card transactions and any related use tax accruals.
  • Enters weekly deposits and relieves related receivables.
  • Reconciles credit card receipts with statements on a monthly basis.
  • Records other weekly activity including partner fees, credit card fees, chargebacks, and freight.
  • Provides evidence for resolution of freight claims and credit card chargebacks for disputed charges.
  • Creates invoices due to/from partners in accordance with terms.
  • Accounts for Capital purchases.
  • Assists auditors with quarterly and annual requests.
  • Maintains and distributes petty cash.
  • Assists in various month-end accounting processes.
  • Completes ad hoc report assignments and special reports as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years’ previous experience in Accounting including balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger entries.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus.
  • General understanding of GAAP and SOX Compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs; specifically Excel.
  • Strong verbal/written communication abilities; effective interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Can effectively work as part of a team and work with others across the organization to achieve a common goal.
  • Excellent organization, planning, judgment, and time management skills.
  • Analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems quickly.
  • Ability to work well under pressure within short deadlines.
