Job Description

Eurofins National Service Centre (NSC) is looking for an HR Specialist.  The HR Specialist will work within our Eurofins Shared Service Centre, based out of the office located in North York.  This position supports primarily our existing Canadian Eurofins business in Ontario, and will support further acquisitions and growth.  The HR Specialist is a strong generalist with the ability to work with multiple business units.  Reporting directly to the Director, Human Resources, this position must be flexible and adept at handling multiple and quickly changing priorities for different business units.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Advise and administer on employee relations activities for all business units including but not limited to terminations, disputes, complaints, discipline, etc.;
  • Handling recruitment and hiring campaigns for businesses (job postings, resumes direction, background and reference check process, offer presentation, offer negotiations, contract preparation/presentation);
  • Primary administrator for Canadian Applicant Tracking System (SmartRecruiters);
  • Primary Administrator for Training and Development platform;
  • Provide supervisor/manager coaching on employee relations;
  • Support and advise on the Health & Safety programs for businesses and handle WSIB claims for businesses;
  • Handle COVID response protocol for businesses when needed;
  • Provide support in required Ontario reporting, such as AODA;
  • Conduct administrative onboarding for new employees prior to hand-off to onsite representative;
  • Assist in developing standardized procedures across all businesses in Canada;
  • Field employee questions and assist in administering employee benefit coverage & updates, disability plans, and enrollment, workers compensation, time off policies, leave of absence policies and other employee and company policies;
  • Maintain business unit HR documentation;
  • Handle all health & safety related issues for business units is it pertains to provincial legislation and worker’s compensation;
  • Assist in administering the Eurofins Performance Management Program;
  • Manage central training platform;
  • Assist in developing, launching and maintaining all HR special projects and initiatives;
  • Confer with Director on policy developments and interpretations;
  • Develop, review and implement HR  policies, to reflect company culture, vision and focus; ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and legally compliant;
  • Perform job responsibilities with confidentiality, professionalism, discretion and respect for all employees;
  • Support all HR acquisition-related initiatives, including HR due diligence;
  • Provide ongoing support through the integration process post-acquisition;
  • Provide training to all BU leaders and employees on Eurofins processes, procedures, and systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business, HR, or related field and CHRP/CHRL;
  • 3-5 years Human Resource Generalist experience;
  • Strong experience working with Ontario-based businesses;
  • Experience working with groups in Quebec would be considered an asset;
  • Merger/acquisition experience is an asset, but not required;
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills, including presentation skills;
  • Thorough working knowledge of provincial employment legislation;
  • Understanding of benefit plan administration, especially Long Term Disability;
  • Solid knowledge of employee relations principles, practices, and procedures;
  • A professional and commercial approach to HR, with the ability to deliver high employee and BU leader satisfaction;
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize diverse information, collect and research data, use intuition and experience to support Director, and design work flow and procedures;
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables;
  • Skilled in recognizing and offering alternative solutions;
  • Calm and professional under stress; 
  • Adaptable and flexible to handle multiple priorities for different businesses;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build partnerships and work with all levels of employees and management;
  • Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines;
  • Self-motivated, task-oriented and able to self-direct daily activity;
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office products.

Currently, the NSC staff are working remotely.  The company will be maintaining a “hybrid” model of remote working in the future with the office open 1-2 days per week and select staff onsite.
