Job Description

The Legal Counsel requires a market understanding of, and the ability to identify, assess and effectively address, the legal issues and risks associated with  digital, social,  strategy, , and creative services  provided by a full-service creative agency. The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial business culture and work collaboratively with all level of agency contacts from entry level up through to the CEO.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Review, draft and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, client contracts, , branded content, production agreements, music licenses, influencer agreements
  • Advise and provide guidance and training on all aspects of the Company’s business, including agency law, social media, intellectual property law and data/privacy issues
  • Legal review of advertising materials and conduct rights clearances
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the latest developments in the law and conduct research as and when necessary
  • Actively engages to address business requests on variety of issues including contract interpretation

Qualifications

  • J.D. and valid law admission to a state bar in the United States
  • 5 years of relevant experience (law firm experience a plus)
  • Exceptional drafting and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate legal advice to business teams
  • Ability to work on a wide variety of matters within a small legal department
  • Working knowledge of SAG, AFTRA, WGA and DGA rules a plus
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and make practical decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Results oriented and time management skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline intensive in-house environment
  • Must be flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels
  • Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Must be an effective problem solver
  • Must possess high level of business acumen with impressive organizational skills
  • Previous advertising agency or ad tech experience is strongly preferred
