Job Description

As the Digital Art Director at Merkle, you'll collect and translate user insights into delightful experiences. You'll create both functional and appealing beautiful features that address our customer's needs. You will use your creativity and eye for design – along with your technical knowledge – to develop great experiences. You'll work with the visual designer, product manager, and our development team. Together you'll provide UI mockups, prototypes, MVPs, and final products. You'll have the privilege of being the voice of our customers. You'll translate their needs into user-friendly designs. You will have a direct impact on the customer's user experience of our product.

You are meticulous and methodical in your approach to design and think holistically about design systems and UI patterns. You lead by example and are constantly striving to enhance and encourage those around you. You know your tools well, and you know the most important one is between your ears.

Responsibilities:

  • Bring beautifully simple and strategically sound experiences that users can relate to.
  • Determine the best way to represent a concept visually while meeting strategic goals and maintaining brand integrity.
  • Work with Creative Director and develop creative/strategic briefs to establish project scope, resource allocations, and meet shared goals and plans.
  • Lead projects from concept to completion, while elevating creativity from other designers.
  • Lead and mentor other designers and oversee the creative output and workload allocations for the team.
  • Work with other designers, strategists, account executives, developers, and clients.
  • Present and defend ideas to our teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience working on large-scale web projects and apps.
  • Create thoughtful, creative solutions that exceed customer expectations and be a steward for already established brands.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (including XD), Sketch, and comfortable in Figma.
  • Working knowledge of process/product hand-off tools (i.e. Zeplin, Abstract, InVision, Jira, and Confluence)
  • Build strong relationships and create opportunities for repeat business.
  • Willingness to travel.
