Job Description

Position Overview

The Director of Impact and Engagement will be part of KIPP’s Policy, Advocacy and Community Engagement (PACE) team and will report to the Senior Director of PACE.  The Director will build and lead KIPP’s external impact and community engagement efforts that focus on partnering with districts, charters and communities to strengthen student outcomes via sharing best practices and strategies  for postsecondary success.  The KIPP Forward (formerly KIPP Through College) supports the work of regions in counseling students and families through the post-secondary decision-making process.  This entrepreneurial leader will have the opportunity to work closely with district/Charter Management Organization (CMOs)/Community Organization leaders and practitioners across the country.  Internally, the director will partner closely with the KIPP Forward team and regional KIPP leaders to uplift best practices, partner with districts and adapt materials for an external audience.  The director will have significant autonomy to shape and drive an integrated external sharing and community engagement strategy that seeks to continue our postsecondary success sharing work and deepen our engagement work with the goal of improving student outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties

The Director of Impact and Engagement will lead the following workstreams, as part of a larger, integrated strategic plan:

·         Develop and drive an integrated sharing and engagement strategy that seeks to continue our sharing work and deepen our engagement work with the goal of improving student outcomes.  

  • Oversee project management and execution of the KIPP Forward sharing program, including the launch of a first of its kind Executive Fellowship for district partners
  • Lead the professional development for program participants and facilitate a broader professional learning community
  • Adapt KIPP Forward resources and tools for an external audience
  • In partnership with KIPP’s Data & Analytics team, support participating organizations in understanding baseline performance, goal setting, and progress monitoring against key college counseling leading indicators and student outcomes
  • Build a strategy and plan of action in partnership with KIPP regional community engagement leads and support them with implementation 
  • Create deep and meaningful relationships with community leaders and school districts to gain support for growing and/or maintaining KIPP’s success in various regions. 
  • Work with KIPP Forward external partners to support them with improving their outcomes via coaching and support with implementing KIPP Forward tools and resources. 
  • Work closely with selected KIPP regions to identify meaningful ways to improve relationships with the local community and build necessary channels and programming to support it.
  • Build proof points in regions to identify best practices that improve relationships between KIPP and the surrounding community.

Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to both racial and educational equity; supports the building of an organization that reflects the community KIPP serves; holds self and others on team accountable for centering equity 
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of experience, including experience as a college counseling practitioner/leader and experience working with district and charter school systems
  • An entrepreneurial passion for leading new workstreams, manager partners and executing complex projects
  • Dynamic facilitation and teaching skills, including demonstrated success training adults on implementing new programs and building competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects from inception to complete while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • A proven track record in effectively organizing others and yourself against immediate and long-term timelines. 
  • Experience related to community/family engagement/organizing and/or grassroots advocacy. Experience in working within communities of color preferred.

Location

This position can be remote.  Ability to travel up to 40%. This is a full-time, exempt position.
