Job Description

Basic Functions:

  • Manages the design component of complex projects on a more independent level, partnering with Account, Strategy, Studio and other teams across the agency 
  • Develops ideas that help solve clients’ business problems, and helps sell those ideas internally and to clients.
  • Able to self-direct to solve problems, and self-motivate to stay current on new and evolving technology in the industry.
  • Takes the lead on multiple projects and delivers the final product with the highest creative standards and within estimated labor hours. 
  • Serves as a mentor to and manages junior team members.

What You Should Bring:

  • Professional knowledge of graphics art or related field required as normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or Communications.
  • Approximately three to five years of progressively more responsible graphic communications experience necessary to art direct for any medium and develop a mastery of process from concept through physical production.
  • Technical skills in Adobe suite, Sketch (Figma, a plus) as well as expert knowledge of electronic and physical production; solid command of brand, promotional, interactive and or direct marketing strategies and tactics; experience and proficiency in creating presentations for clients and internal needs; solid understanding of presentation software and best practices. 
  • A high-level communication skills to present concepts and rationale for art direction decisions
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate creative approaches, and seek unexpected, innovative and breakthrough ideas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates with other members of the creative team to develop relevant and creative strategies. 
  • Generates a range of ideas and designs to solve client’s marketing problems.  Accomplishes this through personal efforts and by effectively managing broad project parameters, less experienced team members, and outside freelancers. Regularly selects and supervises outside graphics services, directors, and production companies.
  • Prepares design solutions for internal and external presentations. Capable of art direction for any medium and a master of process from concept through physical production.
  • Participates in the production process to ensure integrity of the final product (print, video or digital production). Attends press checks. Helps develop tools and recommendations to improve current processes that impact client deliverables.
  • Oversees the pre-production process, working with electronic production to ensure integrity of files.  Regularly leads client planning meetings 
  • Contributes a range of solutions to client marketing problems while developing further knowledge and understanding of the client’s business and its competition.
  • Works enthusiastically with the Accounts, Strategy, Studio, Resource and other teams across the agency to foster a collaborative, team environment.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Increases understanding and awareness of best practices, necessary technical knowledge and skill advances through attendance at trade and professional meetings and seminars, trade shows, perusal of industry literature, and use of supplementary educational activities.
  • Assists with new businesses by developing content, creating presentations, and pitching work.
  • Stays current on new technologies and platforms necessary to meet client demands in the industry.
